Ancient Governor's Office, Baoding

Baoding once serviced as the capital city of Zhili Province, the old name for Hebei Province from 1730 to 1911. This Governor's Office Building used as the office and living place of the governor and his family. From 1911 to 1949, this complex building used as the governmental office of Hebei Province. Since 1988, this building become a museum open to the public.

Zhili Province was the only province that circled the capital. The Qing Dynasty's emperors regarded highly of the governors in Baoding. Very often it was the emperor who would choose his favorite official to be the governor. This governmental office building consist of three sections, the middle section, where most of the construction was built, the eastern side section and the western side section. Only the middle part is open to the public.
